Brian Jemelian provided two decades of distinguished service to Yamaha Corporation of America (YCA) and leadership as the company's senior vice president, finance and administration. He died on July 7 in Irvine, California after a brief illness, at the age of 53.

On Saturday, June 24th, we received the following message from Sammy Ash of Sam Ash Music:

Sad day today for Sam Ash Music and friends in Music Retail and manufacturing. Clyde Miller, a former buyer for the Company and friend of the Family and Staff was found dead on a hiking trail outside of LA.

Joshua Harris, longtime webmaster for Timeless Communications, parent company of MMR, died April 19, 2017 after suffering a heart attack. He was 42.

On April 27th, we received the following message from NAMM's Dan Del Fiorentino: Guy Ward passed away on Friday [April 21].  He was 93 years old.

Frank Mingo (also known as Mingo Jones), one of the last living musicians to have played at the renown jazz clubs of Indiana Avenue, passed away this Monday in his home at the age of 88.

While there has not yet (as of 12:00 pm ET, April 3) been an official announcement issued by the Roland Corporation, there have been numerous reports that the company’s founder Ikutaro Kakehashi has passed away at the age of 87.

Hal Leonard lost one of its most legendary employees last week. Lorraine Ashelin began at Hal Leonard in 1949 and retired in 2010 (Those aren’t typos! that’s 61 years of service!).
