Willcox Guitars Adds Hanson as Advisory Artist

Willcox Guitars has added American guitarist Paul Hanson to their team of Advisory Artists.   

Tom Kowalczyk, vice president sales & marketing for Willcox Guitars, states, “We are proud to add Paul to our inner circle. His resume speaks for itself, as a performer, educator, composer and much more. We look forward to him contributing his significant talents to the further development of the Willcox brand.”

Hanson is a successful author and contributing writer for Guitar World Magazine from 2011 through 2014. His works also include the best selling books, Shred Guitar (Warner Brothers), Hard Rock Solos (REH), Metal and Rock Improvising, (Video, REH), and Arpeggios for Lead Guitar (Video, Hal Leonard). As a solo artist, his albums include The Visitor, Paul Hanson Orchestra, Raindancer, and his most recent, Mindscanner.   

Hanson is a guitar clinician for companies including BOSS and Roland, and he produces and hosts a guitar talk radio podcast called “BOSS Tone Radio.” Paul worked as a rock specialist at Musicians Institute (GIT) in Hollywood from the mid 1980’s through 1999.  Also in the ‘90s, he was the director of the Rock Guitar Department at the American Institute of Music in Vienna, Austria. He has been the top guitar coach in Hollywood and worked on films and TV and taught guitar to many stars, including Michael J. Fox (for his iconic performance in the Back to the Future movies), George Clooney, Eric Stoltz, Mitch Pileggi (The X-Files), Maria Conchita Alonso and Charlotte Ross of Aaron Spelling’s TV show The Heights.  

Hanson has also written and recorded music for TV and film. Some of his work can be heard on trailers, including The Fantastic Four and many others. He also wrote main menu music for many feature film home releases, including The Matrix and The Perfect Storm DVDs from Warner Brothers. Other credits include lead guitarist with Andy Taylor’s Thunder World Tour in the U.S. and Japan, and Vanilla Fudge’s U.S. reunion tour. He also spent several years recording and playing the Los Angeles club circuit with the legendary Brooklyn Brats.
