Theft at Gibson Guitars Custom Division

Local authorities are looking into a robbery that took place last night at the Custom Division of Gibson Guitars located in Nashville. The thieves stole an estimate of ten custom-ordered instruments.

Police were alerted about four o’clock in the morning by a local surveillance firm who established that the crime had taken place.

Law enforcement discovered evidence of forced entry from behind the building and security cameras recorded a man fleeing in a white car.

Gibson CEO Henry Juszkiewicz issued a statement saying in part, “We at Gibson Brands are saddened by the break-in to the Custom Division where the world most valuable and unique guitars are hand made by Nashville crafts people. We are actively working with law enforcement officials to investigate the situation while we seek the recovery of our property as well as the apprehension of the person or persons involved,” Juszkiewicz said.

Any person with knowledge about the break-in or the missing guitars can make an anonymous call to Crime Stoppers at (615) 742-7463.

Update: on Friday, May 27 it was reported that two of the missing guitars have been recovered. 

Police reported that Bryan Brewinton, 36, sold a couple of guitars to a couple of locals in Franklin yesterday charging $100 a piece.  

The buyers suspected they were in possession of stolen property and notified the authorities.   

Brewington was arrested on Saturday, May 28 and charged with vandalism, burglary, and theft.

He is suspected to be in Franklin/ Williamson County and in possession of the remaining merchandise.
