Metroplex Selected as Exclusive Bösendorfer Retailer for North Texas

Christian Wissmuller • Upfront • August 18, 2016

Metroplex Piano Warehouse has been selected as the official Bösendorfer piano representative for the North Texas market. With this rare designation, Metroplex is transforming its Keller store location into a premium luxury piano hub, offering exceptional instruments and service to pianists, music connoisseurs, collectors, interior designers and leading artist organizations.

Taking its cue from high-end fashion retailers, the new, upscale store experience will feature separate retail “stores” and kiosks within the location, highlighting the brand essence of each of the individual instrument product lines. Beyond Bösendorfer, the center will also feature premium Yamaha pianos, including the company’s acclaimed CF series grands.

“Since its inception, Metroplex has strived to carry instruments for every type of consumer, regardless of the price point,” said Hale Ryan, director of marketing and sales for Metroplex. “With its long history and legendary reputation, Bösendorfer represents the pinnacle of piano craftsmanship, and we’re honored to offer these remarkable instruments to our discerning client base.”

“Having both Bösendorfer Premium Pianos and Yamaha CF Performance Series Pianos, side by side on the same floor at Metroplex Piano, gives discriminating pianists a unique opportunity found only in a few venues in the World,” said Robert Heller, director of national sales, Keyboard division, Yamaha Corporation of America. “We are delighted that Darrin Speir, and the entire Metroplex team, are so dedicated to these very important clients, and have partnered with Bösendorfer/Yamaha in this most prestigious presentation.”

The new partnership will also bring a host of musical, retail and cultural events to the store in the coming months. These include concerts such as “A Night in Vienna,” celebrating Bösendorfer’s storied Austrian origins; music clinics, educational workshops and master classes; wine and piano “tasting” events; a Yamaha concert series; and an upcoming mystery celebration, known for now simply as “The Happening.”

Eduardo Rojas, a Dallas-based virtuoso pianist, Bösendorfer artist and founder of the Rojas School of Music is enthusiastic about the partnership. “Bösendorfer’s exceptional craftsmanship and rich tone represent the height of the piano maker’s art. As a musical artist, it’s exciting – and reassuring – to know that Metroplex will offer this rare and uniquely Austrian product line so close to home.”

Bösendorfer instruments have inspired generations of musicians as diverse as Johannes Brahms, Franz Liszt, Ferruccio Busoni, Wilhelm Backhaus, Oscar Peterson, Paul Badura-Skoda, András Schiff, Peter Gabriel, Tori Amos and Marialy Pacheco.

High-end interior designers will also appreciate having the opportunity to customize the musical instruments and have them built to order, to suit a broad range of aesthetic tastes. Partnering with a wide range of artists, and companies such as Audi and Porsche Design, Bösendorfer can create unique custom artwork cases in a choice of finishes that can anchor a room and help bring a designer’s vision to life.

For Metroplex, “Bösendorfer adds cachet for the music connoisseur and rarified art collectors; it’s highly appreciated by extremely sophisticated and high net-worth individuals, who have traveled the world,” added Ryan, a 30-year piano industry marketing veteran. “Additionally, Metroplex has solidified its position in servicing artists and arts organizations to the highest degree. We now have something for every artist, and this is the culmination of our quest to secure the best lines to carry.”

Since its inception in 1990 as Cousin’s Piano, and continuing with the purchase of Dallas Piano Warehouse in 2009, Metroplex Piano Warehouse is an established leader in piano sales, service and restoration in the North Texas market. Under the leadership of owner Darren Speir, a registered piano technician with the Piano Technician Guild, Metroplex has blossomed into a full-service retailer.
