Joe Lovano Trades In For Two New Sax Dakota Straights

Christian Wissmuller • Supplier Scene • July 31, 2017

Saxophonist and composer Joe Lovano traded in his original LA SAX Straight Alto and Tenor for two new Sax Dakota Straights this past June at Roberto’s Music in New York City.

“Playing on my new Straight Tenor & Alto Saxophones by Dakota Sax gives me another world of swirling sounds and vibrations I’ve never felt before,” said Lovano.

Both Lovano and his “point man” Tim Price tested the instruments for a few hours before making the trade. The pair of straights that Lovano traded in have been autographed by the musician and will become a part of Pete LaPlaca’s collection of memorable saxophones, possibly to be auctioned off for charity in the future.
