Boulder Creek Guitars, Inc. has named Michael Hurwitz as vice president of Worldwide Sales. Hurwitz will oversee the sales of domestic U.S. dealers and international distributors.

Hurwitz’s background includes his most recent positions as director of sales for Aphex, LLC and national sales manager for Earthworks Microphones. He also has a rich history as a performing and recording musician, recording engineer, producer and educator.

According to 2005 data, the fretted instrument segment accounted for $1.4 billion in global musical instrument sales. Americans purchased 3.4 million guitars. Overall, Americans were responsible for 42.7 percent of global musical instrument sales making them the largest consumers. Japan was second at 15.6 percent.
