Christian Wissmuller • People • March 17, 2015

Samick Music Corporation, Inc. (SMC) has announced the appointment of Mike Johnson as Western sales manager of the company’s Musical Instrument Division.

In his new role, Johnson will have the responsibility of managing sales in the Western U.S. and will be directly involved in the development of new products, utilizing over 40 years of experience in the music industry.

“We are very pleased to have Mike onboard,” stated Andrew You, executive vice president of Musical Instrument Division. “His experience, passion and knowledge of the guitar industry is second to none and just a tremendous asset for us.”

Johnson arrives at SMC after recently working as a national sales manager with Gold Tone. He started playing professionally at the age of 12 years old and is still an active solo guitarist/vocalist. Mike returns to Samick after filling the role as a regional sales manager with the company between 1994 and 2003.

“Having worked for many years with the Samick factory, it is a pleasure to be back home,” said Johnson. “The whole Silvertone project is extremely compelling and I look forward to being a part of the development of this American treasure!”
