Christian Wissmuller • People • April 22, 2016

Robert Wilson of Sound Technology was awarded an Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) by Prince Charles during an investiture ceremony at Buckingham Palace on the 24th February 2016.

The biannual awards are bestowed to individuals who demonstrate great contributions to the commonwealth through service; a comprehensive overview can be found here: http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-11990088

The 65-year-old chairman of Sound Technology was honoured in recognition of his services to the music industry and charity. Wilson is a director of Music for Youth, a charity that works with thousands of young people from all over the UK, all of whom are passionate about music. We know how important it is to be actively involved in the arts from a young age – the benefits last a lifetime. To date more than 2.4m under 21 year olds participated with Music for Youth over the 40+ years the charity has been established.  He is also a current director and past chairman of the Music Industries Association and a director of NAMM.

Having worked in the music industry for more than 45 years, Robert is still a keen musician and continues to encourage the playing of musical instruments whenever the opportunity arises.
