Rock, Americana, jazz, blues, soul — Jam in the Van has done it all, from bands’ back yards to festivals like SXSW, Lollapalooza, Outside Lands and Live on the Green. Founded by two friends, Dave Bell and Jake Cotler, five years ago in Venice Beach, California, this mobile recording studio and its accompanying online community have become a conduit for music discovery for its 90,000-plus subscribers, who can hear as many as three new tracks a day from five artists each week. Gary Clark Jr., Allen Stone, Lukas Nelson and Anders Osborne are some of the more than 600 bands and artists they’ve tracked, streamed and promoted to date.

In support of this unique channel for music production and distribution, Audio-Technica has provided the following units: AE3000 Cardioid Condenser Instrument Microphone, ATM250 Hypercardioid Dynamic Instrument Microphone, ATM350 Cardioid Condenser Clip-On Microphone, ATM650 Hypercardioid Dynamic Instrument Microphone, ATM450 Cardioid Condenser Instrument Microphone, AT4040 Cardioid Condenser Microphone, AE4100 Cardioid Dynamic Handheld Microphone, AT4041 Cardioid Condenser Microphone, AT4050 Multi-pattern Condenser Microphone and ATH-M50x Professional Monitor Headphones.

“We’ve built ourselves into a top way to discover new music,” says Jake Cotler, Co-Founder of Jam in the Van, which was named “Best Mobile Recording Studio” by the Pensado Awards, at an event that took place on August 30, 2015, at Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City, CA. “We’re adding 4,000 new subscribers every month, and they’re seeing two to three new videos from new artists every day.”

Cotler says achieving and maintaining a high level of sonic quality is critical for the success of the venture. “Partnering with A-T as the microphone sponsor takes us to an entirely new level in terms of sound quality,” he says. “We went with Audio-Technica because the quality is unmatched.”

Gary Boss, Marketing Director at Audio-Technica, observes, “We are very excited to partner with Jam in the Van. They have the unique position of not only spreading the word about our brand, but also to get our products in the hands of performing musicians all across the country. Our extensive product offerings also allow us to cover all aspects of their production, from on the road to in the studio.”

Cotler says that A-T microphones allowed them to take their already excellent sound values even further. “It’s all about being the best, and it doesn’t get better than Audio-Technica.”
