St. Louis Music Celebrates Make Music Day

Christian Wissmuller • Supplier Scene • June 15, 2018

St. Louis Music will be participating in Make Music Day (MMD) 2018, a celebration of music on the summer solstice that will take place in thousands of locations around the world.

To celebrate MMD, a group of SLM employees (known as the St. Louis Music All-Stars) will be in the UCity Loop at the Chuck Berry statue, honoring the “father of rock n roll” by playing a selection of his tunes and raising awareness for Make Music Day.

“The Make Music Day worldwide festival is such a wonderful event, and this year we’re getting involved in a bigger way,” says Mark Ragin, President and CEO of St. Louis Music. “The All-Stars will be at UCity Loop raising awareness, and of course playing instruments right off the shelves from SLM. Our friends at Latin Percussion have provided egg shakers and chickitas to be handed out to anyone on the Loop’s bustling sidewalks that wishes to join in.”

SLM encourages its dealers to visit www.makemusicday.org/media/ where they can view a toolkit explaining how to create their own Make Music Day event, which can include anything from hosting a drum circle or guitar strum to instrument-making events for small children or a battle of the bands event.
