Debt Troubles Reported for Gibson, Juszkiewicz Responds

It has recently been reported by many that Gibson Brands, Inc. - parent company of Gibson Guitars - is facing an uncertain future due to serious debt-related and operational concerns. The company has issued a statement regarding their financial situation and, further, MMR spoke with Gibson Chairman and CEO Henry Juszkiewicz on the afternoon of February 20.



Ashly Audio has announced that industry veteran Scott Leslie will join the company as executive vice president. Ashly and its parent company, JAM Industries, are committed to a new growth strategy and they are drawing on Leslie’s vision, experience, and leadership to help execute it. In the newly-created position, Leslie reports to Ashly CEO and president Mark Wentling and oversees the R&D, marketing, and the North American sales divisions.

HARMAN announced the acquisition of Melbourne, Australia-based SM Pro Audio and its incorporation into the HARMAN Professional Division as an innovation hub for a wide range of pro audio and musical instrument (MI) technologies across HARMAN’s professional product brands.  According to Blake Augsburger, president, HARMAN Professional Division, the depth of innovation and quality of engineering talent at SM Pro Audio provides HARMAN Professional with a strong internal technology partner for a broad range of products

Roland Corporation announced today two senior management appointments effective February 1, 2015. Mr. Jay Wanamaker will assume the role of president and CEO of Roland Corporation U.S., while Mr. Kim Nunney, current president and CEO, has been appointed to the newly created position of Executive VP, Global Business Development for Professional A/V of Roland Corporation.

Focusrite Novation Inc. has announced several new appointments. The announcement was made by Phil Wagner, president of Focusrite Novation Inc., underscoring the ongoing growth and expansion of the Focusrite and Novation brands and their sales channels in the U.S.

Industry veteran Michael Prager has joined Focusrite Novation Inc. as Focusrite national sales manager. Prager comes to Focusrite with a wealth of experience in Pro Audio. He was most recently with Adam Audio as their director of sales. Prior to that, Michael was the Guitar Center Recording category manager.

After a long association as chief designer for Guild Guitars, Carlo joined his dear friend, Alex Carozza, in New York’s top repair shop, Alex Music, on 48th Street. HARMAN Professional has appointed David McKinney as vice president and GM of HARMAN’s Mixer Business Unit, where he will lead the global operations of the Soundcraft and Studer brands. Filling McKinney’s previous position of senior director and general manager of China Operations for HARMAN Professional will be Frank Xiao, who brings more than 15 years experience in the professional AV industry to his new role.

Trade Regrets

Bob Gand opened Village Music in Deerfield, Illinois in the early 1960s, which impacted both the community, as well as his son Gary.  Gary went on to open his own successful retail business.  Bob was drawn to folk music in the 1960s and formed the Gand Family Singers, which included his children Gary and (celebrity chef) Gail.
