Fargen Amplification Announces Relaunch of Custom Shop with Accessories and Hot Mods

Fargen Amplification recently announced an expansion of its Custom Shop, including new Hot Mods Do-It-Yourself (DIY) kits, and a high-end guitar accessories line. Fargen has designed and performed many amplifier modifications over the past fifteen years, based on much experience with vintage gear design and expertise with the capabilities of modern technology.  These mods offer vast improvements over the original circuits.  Fargen now offers ten DIY kits and separately, ten transformer sets, providing improvements such as note detail and balance, increased sustain, lower noise floor and smoother overdrive at lower volumes.  The kits include replacements for all critical signal path board components, using proprietary Fargen Custom Shop components.  “Your amp will sound like an amp that costs three times as much.  I’ve incorporated many tonal improvements into these kits which are easy for any do-it-yourselfer to use,” says Ben Fargen founder.

Almost 3 decades ago, Jim Heath was the sound guy for a couple of venues in Dallas, Texas. Then, one propitious night he stepped on the stage, spontaneously played Johnny Cash's famous prison song and morphed into his alter-ego The Reverend Horton Heat.  Since that night, Jim Heath, as The Reverend Horton Heat, has been proselytizing in his high energy, colorful punkabilly/psychobilly style for an average of 120 shows each year channelling his message through vocals and lead guitar. He is currently accompanied by Jimbo Wallace on upright bass and Paul Simmons on drums.

The Percussive Arts Society (PAS) and Hit Like A Girl have announced the formation of an alliance that brings drummers, educators, manufacturers and media together as part of a powerful, new coalition and aims to generate greater recognition of the female drumming community as well as greater support for its development and growth.

“This cooperation between one of the oldest and most respected organizations in the drum industry and one of the newest and most progressive allows us to combine resources and achieve a common goal more easily and more effectively,” explains PAS Executive Director Jeff Hartsough. “And, while we ultimately want girls and women to become active members of PAS and participants in Hit Like A Girl activities, we realize that step one is simply getting more of them to pick up a pair of sticks or a hand drum and become drummers.”

For the past 11 years, Bittner has created a name for himself primarily for his work with Shadows Fall and his drum clinics.  Bittner gained attention almost immediately after joining Shadows Fall, starting with the band’s 2002 release, The Art of Balance, which reached international acclaim and served as the band’s breakthrough album.  In 2004, Shadows Fall released A War Within, earning them their first Grammy Nomination for the song, “What Drives the Weak”, in the Best Metal Performance category.
