Hal Leonard Announces
Partnership with PraiseCharts

Christian Wissmuller • Upfront • July 31, 2015

Hal Leonard Corporation is partnering with PraiseCharts, a leading online resource for contemporary praise & worship sheet music for churches, to make PraiseCharts content available to music dealers worldwide in both printed publications and via Hal Leonard’s popular Digital Retailer Program.

This was announced by Doug Lady, Hal Leonard senior vice president and Ryan Dahl, PraiseCharts founder and CEO.

Hal Leonard and PraiseCharts are planning a wide range of print offerings for this series. The first two volumes available are Christmas Praise Carols and Contemporary Worship Classics, each featuring ten well-known songs. Titles currently in development include Modern Worship Hits, Worship Favorites and Contemporary Praise Hymns.

Clear, consistent charts reflecting popular recordings have earned PraiseCharts its glowing reputation. The new folio series features six books for each title, providing highly scalable band combinations: Piano/Vocal & Chord Charts; Worship Band Edition (Lead Sheets, Rhythm Charts & Chord Charts); and four instrumental books with melody and obbligato parts (in C treble, C bass, B-flat and E-flat). Each edition includes access to online audio tracks for download and/or streaming.

These chart collections offer simplified instrumental lines at an easy to intermediate level, ideal for everyone from high school students to pros. The arrangements are designed with the flow of live worship in mind. All parts have lyric cues and section numbers to aid players in keeping their place, giving them the freedom to make impromptu changes, or simply to follow the chart as written.

Along with making print publications available for the first time, this partnership will make PraiseCharts accessible worldwide via Hal Leonard’s Digital Retailer Program for both in-store and online dealer sales. Dealers can now offer their customers an array of titles and formats; PraiseCharts bestsellers will be available initially, with more and more content added in the future. The agreement with Hal Leonard also provides new licensing opportunities to enable PraiseCharts to expand its digital catalog into new types of music.

“I’ve always regarded Hal Leonard as the undisputed leader in print music distribution. We are excited and humbled to be able to partner with them. This represents a whole new era for us with physical print,” says PraiseCharts’ Ryan Dahl.

Hal Leonard’s Doug Lady says, “Ryan Dahl started PraiseCharts with an entrepreneur’s spirit and a minister’s heart. With his extensive experience, he’s built a network of arrangers who know the songs people want to sing, and know how to arrange them so they are playable by church musicians and singable by congregations. The company creates excellent content that will dovetail well with our offerings both in print and digitally.”
