PageFlip intros new pedals at NAMM

Ronnie Dungan • MMR Global • December 21, 2016

Two new wireless foot pedals will be launched by PageFlip at the NAMM 2017 trade show.

The PageFlip Dragonfly follows in the footsteps of the best-selling PageFlip Firefly pedal, which was designed to meet the needs of musicians who struggle with the challenge and inconvenience of page turning.

While two pedals are great for turning pages in either direction, a quad pedal makes it possible to launch two additional app actions with the tap of the foot. Used with select iOS/Android apps it can  instantly trigger up to four operations, such as page turning, navigation among setlist songs, volume control, and multimedia playback.

It features illuminated pedals, programmable pedal modes, 30-minute auto sleep period, wireless and wired connectivity options, ergonomic design, and heft for rugged use. It works with iPads and Android tablets under select apps that accept keyboard commands. Since the pedal emits a keypress (e.g., arrow keys) with each tap, any app that responds to a Bluetooth keyboard will also work with the Dragonfly.

Mode buttons on the pedal are used to specify what key presses are emitted with each tap. The user may select among several preset modes: PageUp/PageDown, Left/Right arrow, Up/Down arrow, and more. Free Windows/Mac software is available from www.pageflip.com to reprogram the pedal modes. Any multi-key combination (e.g., Ctrl-O) or multimedia key presses (e.g., play/pause or volume up/down) can be assigned to the pedals using PageFlip’s free software.

In addition to the four-pedal Dragonfly, PageFlip is also introducing the new two-pedal PageFlip Butterfly to complement its lineup of products. The Butterfly is a new-and-improved version of PageFlip’s original Cicada pedal. As its successor, the Butterfly now incorporates a whole set of features suggested by Cicada users: added heft, more rugged construction, a longer 30-minute auto sleep period, and a totally silent pedal action that mimics the feel of the premium Firefly pedal.

The standard Butterfly and premium Firefly dual pedals retail at $89.95 and $109.95, respectively. The premium Dragonfly quad pedal retails at $129.95.
