More growth for London Drum Show

Ronnie Dungan • MMR Global • November 25, 2015

Organiser Blaze Publishing, says that this year’s London Drum Show enjoyed a five per cent increase in attendance, with a total of 3,427 people coming to London Olympia for the two-day event.

The latest figures mean the show has seen an increased attendance for four consecutive years.

Event Director, Steve Harvey, commented: “The London Drum Show continues to grow year on year, both in terms of content, floor space and show visitors. The significant investment made in expanding the show onto two floors has given us the room to add more content and have the space to accommodate a wider collection of exhibitors. Of particular note was the number of European visitors and exhibitors the show is now attracting.”

New for 2015 was the Education Zone which offered show visitors the chance to enjoy free drum lessons courtesy of Trinity College London. The Education Zone also included clinics from some of the world’s top educators including Mike Johnston and Anika Nilles. “The addition of the Education Zone was a success”, added Steve. “The hall was busy throughout the weekend. Trinity conducted in excess of 200 free lessons over the two days, and it’s clear that there is a real appetite amongst drummers for education. We are already having discussions about how to grow this aspect of the show for next year.”

The show saw a number of firsts including the launch of the British Drum Co.; a Gilson Lavis signature kit from Cambridge Drum Company; a new childrens’ book series called The Drumables, the opening of the young drummer of the year competition; a consumer debut for Titan Reality’s Pulse electronic instrument and new launches from Mapex, Paise, Vic Firth, Pearl and many others.

The London Drum Show 2016 will be held slightly earlier in the year; 12th & 13th November. Enquiries for exhibition space should be directed to Neil Golding via [email protected].
