DigiTech launches cab emulator box

Ronnie Dungan • MMR Global • February 8, 2017

DigiTech has launched its new CabDryVR Speaker Cabinet IR (Impulse Response) effect pedal.

CabDryVR features seven guitar and seven bass cabinets for a total of 14 speaker emulations in a streamlined stompbox.

It features patented DigiTech Cabinet Tuning control which gives players the ability to adjust the size of the cabinet and create custom cab sounds. The twin-channel design allows players to run separate IR models on each channel and achieve the effect of miking two different cabinets. Dual inputs and outputs allow for connections with instruments, external effects and amplifiers. A dedicated optional dry path lets players run a dry signal to an onstage amp while simultaneously sending a wet signal to the house mixer. CabDryVR even allows players to run directly from their pedal boards to a DAW or in-ear monitors without any loss of tone. True bypass electronics ensure the purest signal path possible when disengaged.

“CabDryVR packs 14 of music’s most iconic and sought-after cabinets into a streamlined stompbox musicians can take everywhere,” said Tom Cram, marketing manager, DigiTech, Harman Professional Solutions. “With innovative controls, guitarists and bassists can effortlessly bring their favourite cabs to any stage or studio, and customise new cab sounds to explore untapped sonic possibilities. Whether used for tracking demos, recording complete albums or performing live, CabDryVR delivers the same great performance.”

Pedal controls include a Guitar/Bass switch which lets players select between guitar cabinets or bass cabinets. Cab Type A and Cab Type B knobs allow the player to select the desired guitar or bass cabinet emulations. Two sets of Size/Level concentric knobs control the output level and size of Type A and Type B cabinets. When Dry is selected under Cab Type B, the Size/Level and Cab Type B knobs are bypassed.
