Carlsbro adds to modelling amp line-up

Ronnie Dungan • MMR Global • April 5, 2017

Carlsbro has added three models to its StingrayD range of digital modelling amplifiers at this year’s Prolight + Sound.

The new StingrayD5L and D10L are new versions of the D5 and D10 ‘heads’ launched last year. They mirror the features of the earlier models – with the exception of USB onboard recording (though retaining the USB digital output) – but are powered with lithium batteries that provide for up to eight hours operation on a single charge. This makes them even more ideal for busking, or for rehearsing or practicing wherever. Both models are supplied with mic stand mounting brackets.

Like the D5 and D10, thenew models’ have 5 and 10 watt ratings respectively; features include “classic British high gain” inputs, five and eight selectable voices respectively, along with Gain, Volume, Tone, Effect, Delay / Reverb and separate Mic and (guitar/USB) output level controls, in the case of the D5L, and Gain, Volume, Bass, Mid, Treble, Effect, Delay / Reverb, and separate Mic, Aux/USB and Guitar output level controls, in the case of the D10L.

The StingrayD40 is an all-new modelling combo. Eight selectable voices comprise Clean, Crunch, Lead, Brit Hi, Modern, Flat, Acoustic and Bass, provide a complete pallet of tones for electrics, acoustic guitars, other instruments and even bass guitar; with the electric and bass guitar voices based on classic valve sounds. Additionally the amplifier has Gain and Master volume controls, Bass, Mid and Treble, selectable effects and Reverb settings, as well as adjustable ‘level’ and USB outs, and five recallable user memories. A single 8 inch 8Ω speaker with 40 watt power rating completes the package.

In addition, a new range of ‘mesh head’ electronic drum kits are being shown in Europe for the first time at Prolight + Sound. The CSD500 is a five drum, three cymbal kit, with four-layer fabric skins for a more realistic playing experience and quieter practice. A new sound module features 458 percussion voices and 29 pre-set kits, Aux in jack, Line output, Headphone out, USB interface (USB to device), MIDI IN/OUT, recording and playback facility, adjustable sensitivity and crosstalk, three-band EQ, three ambience and two reverb settings, and metronome. The fdirm claims it will also be the most competitively priced Mesh head e-kit on the market.

General manager Patrick Almond said: “This year Carlsbro is continuing to build on the incredible success in the market place of product lines that it launched or introduced new models from at last year’s show. These are representative of the brand’s expansion into the electronic instrument market, alongside its traditional guitar amplifier business, something Carlsbro has done with spectacular success. Taking on and competing with long established market leaders. With further new regional distributors coming onside and further non-traditional sales channels opening up, success is continuing apace.”
