Aguilar launches AG500 successor

Ronnie Dungan • MMR Global • June 7, 2017

Aguilar Amplification has made a new addition to its USA-made bass amplifier range –  the AG700.

Available to order through exclusive UK distributors Barnes & Mullins, the new AG700 is a solid state bass amplifier head delivering 700 continuous watts at 4 ohms and 350 watts at 8 ohms. Weighing 2.22kg (4.9 lbs), it is built with a 2.67 ohm load so can be used with a combination of 4 and 8 ohms cabinets.

The AG700 has the dynamic range, clarity and fast transient response of its predecessor – the AG500 – but features more low-end power and greater headroom. A raft of EQ functionality allows for flexible tone options to suit a range of sounds and playing styles.

It boasts Treble, High Mid, Low Mid and Bass tone controls as well as Deep and Bright EQ buttons that add extra presence to the highs and a boost to the low frequencies. A series effects loop is also included that adds 6 dB of additional gain, making it useful for a broad range of effects units, plus universal mains power eliminates the need to switch voltages when touring from country to country.

Retailing at £1,169, the AG700 is a full-featured, professional portable bass head that can easily be transported and gigged across the world, offering a number of tone-shaping options for a multitude of bass tones.
