New summer launches from Cordoba and Guild

Ronnie Dungan • MMR Global • July 6, 2017

Cordoba has announced a number of new launches ahead of this year’s Summer NAMM show.

Its newest nylon string acoustic-electric guitar, the C4-CE, features a solid African Mahogany top, back and sides for balanced volume and sustain. Its construction references a traditional Spanish classical guitar, enhanced with a soft cutaway and a slightly thinner 50mm-width neck designed for comfortable playability and easy upper-register reach. Additional design elements include maple binding, abalone rosette, and a satin edge burst finish. It features a Fishman Sonitone active pickup system with soundhole mounted controls. It will have a $329.99 street price.

The 15CB, Córdoba’s latest concert ukulele, is  built with exotic bocote wood and finished with an abalone rosette and cream binding.

Additional features include a satin finish, silver tuners with pearl buttons, and Italian Aquila strings.   Street price is $119.

The new Guild Jumbo Junior Bass is a compact four-string with a solid Sitka spruce top and arched flamed maple back. The back, sides and neck are finished in a satin antique blonde finish, and it boasts an Fishman Sonitone Bass pickup system with built in volume and tone controls.

Other features include an ebony fingerboard and bridge, bone nut and saddle, mother-of-pearl rosette and Guild peak headstock logo, tortoiseshell pickguard, and (D’addario) nylon-core phosphor bronze strings. A Guild deluxe padded gig bag is included for a $499 street price.

Lastly, Guild has expanded its best-selling Starfire Bass II to include three new colours: Emerald Green, Cherry Red and Black. Featuring all-mahogany construction and dual single-coil Bi-Sonic pickups, the reissue has a thin u-shaped neck profile and fully adjustable bridge with rosewood saddles.  The semi-hollow design with center-block fights feedback without sacrificing acoustic qualities. Street price is $1,299.
