Ronnie Dungan • MMR Global • August 30, 2017

Polish start-up firm Zylia is about to launch an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign for its new technology that combines a microphone array with computer software to create a muti-track recording studio.

Zylia says the ZM-1 works by intelligently extracting multi-source recordings into individual audio tracks from a ‘one-microphone’ recording it enables musicians, bands and sound recordist to capture performances without complex recording set-ups.

It features 19 capsules microphone array with high-end 24-bit recording resolution and uses bespoke Zylia Studio software to record multi-track music performances and audio in both 3D/360˚ degrees and traditional stereo.

Zylia Studio is  a dedicated application that enables recording and processing of any recorded material captured with the ZYLIA ZM-1 microphone. It is compatible with Mac, Windows and Linux.

ZYLIA Studio PRO adds VST/AU plugin support and gives access to spatial filtering and signal separation directly within any DAW. A virtual microphone is a software-defined microphone which combines a spatial filtering and blind sound source separation. ZYLIA Studio PRO unlocks an unlimited number of virtual microphones.

The firm, which is hoping to raise the money to increase manufacturing capacity beyond the prototype stage,  was founded in 2012 by Piotr Szczechowiak (COO) and Tomasz Żernicki (CTO). The team now consists of more than 20 people in audio research, software, business and product development.
