US bass amp specialist
Aguilar Amplification has added pro bass player Paul Geary to its artist roster in the UK.
Geary plays through an Aguilar TH500 head and SL410 cabinet on tour with Nik Kershaw throughout the UK, Ireland and Europe in autumn and winter this year.
He is an honours graduate of Berklee College of Music and B.I.T. Musicians Institute of Technology, Los Angeles. He quickly became established as one of the most prolific studio and session bass players upon his return to the UK – receiving his initial break working with Lisa Stansfield and Gabrielle in the early 90’s.
Voted ‘Best New Musician’ by the British Music Association in 1993, Paul offered his bass services to a varied and impressive list of artists including George Michael, The Lighthouse Family and Chris Rea and went on to head the bass school at the Academy of Contemporary Music, London in 1994.
He later took up the position of ‘Music Director’ for Polydor, Sony, EMI and Warner Music, working with a host of popular artists including Nik Kershaw, Simply Red, Sophie Ellis Bexter and Mary J Blige.
He is a regular columnist contributor for Guitar Techniques and Bass Guitar Magazine and is presently on the road and in the studio with Kershaw as well as The Dire Straits Experience.
