Darkglass has upgraded its Microtubes B7K V2 and B3K V2 bass drive pedals.
They are upgraded versions of the original Darkglass pedals, with the same core as the first-generation pedals, but with additional tone sculpting features. The pedals have hard-wearing laser etched enclosures; a grunt switch which adds additional low frequency content to saturate pre clipping while the B7K V2 adds XLR DI, 4 band EQ and direct out.
The original Microtubes B3K delivered a sharp and scooped overdrive tone (like a modern tube amplifier) offering a simple control layout. The new Microtubes B3K V2 has all the features of the original, but with the added ability to restore the mid-range for a natural character if needed.
The attack switch has now been replaced by the tone knob, giving more control of the higher harmonic content (3 kHz to 8 kHz). The grunt switch is still present but now comes in the form of a mid-boost, providing a 6dB boost from 300 Hz to 1 kHz. This can help cut through in busy mixes.
It is available in mid-October with a UK RRP of £225, distributed through Audio Distribution Group.
The new version of the B7K has the dynamic saturation circuit from the B3K CMOS Bass Drive pedal with an added 4-band active EQ, parallel output and balanced line driver for greater versatility.
On the low mids it offers the option to change the centre frequency from 1KHz to 500Hz and on the high mids from 3kHz to 1.5kHz. This will enable you to tailor your absolute dream distortion tone.
Again available in October it has a UK RRP of £319.
