Musikmesse Opens up to Merchandisers

Ronnie Dungan • MMR Global • November 16, 2017

Musikmesse has opened up its annual trade fair to the merchandising industry with a new format called MerchDays.

MerchDays, will be a meeting place for the entertainment merchandising sector, and will be held for the first time at next year`s Musikmesse and Prolight + Sound in Frankfurt. It has been set up in cooperation with Aka Merch & Textil, the organisers of MerchDays, Merchandising and fan-article suppliers will present their products and services in the foyer of Halls 5.1 / 6.1 on the Thursday and Friday of the fairs, 12th and 13th April 2018. MerchDays will be open to all visitors of Musikmesse and Prolight + Sound free of charge. Most recently, the two-day event was held concurrently with the c/o pop Convention in Cologne in August, this year.

“The integration of MerchDays expands the range of products and themes covered by Musikmesse and Prolight + Sound and will give visitors from the music, event and entertainment sector the chance to find out about the latest trends in the merchandising sector – from textiles, electronics and lifestyle articles to technologies for finishing, logistics and e-commerce. We are looking forward to welcoming numerous merchandising decision makers and specialists to our trade-fair duo”, said Michael Biwer, group show director of the Entertainment, Media & Creative Industries division of Messe Frankfurt.

“With around 100,000 visitors per year, Musikmesse and Prolight + Sound offer a future-oriented setting for the presentation of merchandising and fan articles. Moreover, Messe Frankfurt is the ideal partner to help us develop this meeting place for the sector into a trade fair. With our previous events in Cologne, we have been able to establish MerchDays as the meeting place for the merchandising industry. The advantageous dates in April, the cooperation with Messe Frankfurt and the plans for the Musikmesse Festival were key factors in our decision to move MerchDays to Frankfurt”, added Stefan Roller-Assfalg, CEO of Aka Merch & Textil.
