Gibson Brands is ceasing active development and production of Cakewalk branded products to focus on its Philips consumer electronics brand.
In a statement, the firm said the decision was made to “better align with the company’s acquisition strategy that is heavily focused on growth in the global consumer electronics audio business under the Philips brand”.
This refers to the acquisition of Woox Innovations, which includes the Philips brand, in 2014 for $135m.
Gibson acquired Cakewalk, which includes the Sonar DAW range for Windows and various well-regarded plugins and apps, from Roland in 2013.
