German auto-tuning specialist Tronical, which Gibson Brands markets under the name G-Force, said it is raising the amount disputed in its legal action against Gibson, which has been pending before the Hamburg State Court since December 2017, to $50m.
The G-Force technology was introduced to a number of Gibson models, but met with a lukewarm response from guitar enthusiasts and now only appears on a handful of higher end models.
Tronical founder Chris Adams is quoted on MusicRadar, saying: “Tronical is claiming licensing fees to the amount of $23m from the share in the profits agreed in the contract, and a further $27m on the grounds of Gibson’s breach of contract of the exclusive research and development agreement with Tronical, which Gibson should have met by 2026.”
