Singapore-based publisher BandLab Technologies, has acquired The Guitar Magazine and MusicTech magazines from Anthem Publishing.

The editorial and commercial teams for both brands will continue to operate in the UK. The deal also includes MusicTech Focus, Guitar Classics, www.musictech.net and www.theguitarmagazine.com.

“We are excited to welcome The Guitar Magazine and MusicTech to BandLab Technologies. We have a shared passion for creating the best experience for music makers and listeners. These brands will strengthen our vision to create a connected world of music and empower people everywhere to be creative,” says Meng Ru Kuok, CEO of BandLab Technologies. “We’re pleased to be bringing on such an experienced and knowledgeable team, who will continue to deliver informative and empowering content for musicians, producers and creators as we invest and build on the excellent foundation these brands have today across their physical and digital products.”

Jon Bickley, Founder of Anthem Publishing, says “As our very first title, MusicTech has a special place in our hearts here at Anthem, while eight years of our ownership has seen The Guitar Magazine reinvent itself as an award-winning, high quality magazine and website. We’ve been proud that both titles have encouraged people around the world in their love of music creation, recording and more, and we’re pleased that BandLab Technologies will now take the brands forward in the next stage of their evolution.”

The MusicTech and Guitar Magazine office remains in the United Kingdom, while parent company, BandLab Technologies, is headquartered in Singapore. BandLab Technologies  is a collective of global music brands that includes BandLab, the group’s flagship digital product – a social music platform that enables creators to make music – and share the creative process with musicians and fans.
