Barefaced Audio launches new PA range

Ronnie Dungan • MMR Global • August 14, 2015

Barefaced Audio, a sepcialist in bass instrument loudspeakers, has launched its first PA specific models.

Targeted at working musicians and DJs who want to lighten their load whilst maintaining or improving the sound quality of their system, each FR800 weighs 15kg yet can produce 127dB continuous output. Its audiophile level digital signal processor tunes the response for maximum clean headroom with multiple presets to cover varied usage/acoustics.

Chief engineer Alex Claber said: “We spent almost three years developing our 12XN550 neo driver which combines the high efficiency and clean midrange of the best mid-bass drivers with the huge low frequency output of great subwoofers.”

The concept behind the Barefaced Audio FR800 opposes top+sub PA convention. By combining the 12XN550 12″ driver and optimised ported enclosure with a true 800W RMS power module and neodymium compression driver, they can achieve high resolution full-range sound from two compact PA speakers without additional large subwoofers. A stereo pair of FR800s exhibits flat frequency response (+/-3dB) from 42Hz-16kHz with bass output comparable with a premium quality 1×18″ subwoofer.

For outdoor gigs or particularly large venues may require even greater low frequency SPL, Barefaced offers the LF800 active subwoofer which operates in unison to increase the maximum output below ~120Hz.
