Drużkowski Guitars has launched the ‘The Wizard’, an 8 string headless, sold bodied guitar handcrafted to the specifications of American multi-instrumentalist Jordan Rudess (Dream Theatre, David Bowie, John Petrucci).
Built by Polish luthier Przemek Drużkowski based in the UK, The Wizard features a 13-piece maple, mahogany, walnut combination through-neck design, multi-scale ebony fingerboard, stainless steel frets and ‘Wizard’ inlay. Body wings are swamp ash (with comfort contured top belly chamfer) with an 8mm thick, book-matched mango top. All woods are oiled with a final wax protection finish.
A mahogany block runs the full length of the rear of the body between the swamp ash, boosting the low/mid frequencies. The blend of tonewood is also renowned for a clear high-end response and for The Wizard, is a mantle for a pair of Bare Knuckle Juggernaut humbuckers. Each pickup is calibrated for neck and bridge positions and both feature a mix of alnico and ceramic magnets.
The Wizard also featured on-board installation of Taurus Servo Enhancer circuitry, specifically designed to work in tandem with the five-way selector switch, single volume control to boost rich harmonic overtones, clarity, punch and definition.
Tuning is via a headless bridge and nut system designed by Italian company Technology 4musician.
The firm said: “The Wizard is a fine example of Przemek Drużkowski’s talent as a master luthier and musician, combining his guitar skills with his woodworking knowledge to develop comfortable and modern guitars with a metal/rock edged theme. Like The Wizard, all Drużkowski Guitars are hand crafted from the finest tonewoods and available hardware”.
The Wizard has a retail price of £3,360 and includes a custom flight case.
