Ibanez Artstar Vintage Expands With Distressed Finish

Christian Wissmuller • Fretted • November 2, 2016

Ibanez has introduced two new guitars sporting relic’d finishes to its Artstar Vintage line. The AMV100DGBKL and the ASV100DGBKL are traditional Artstar double cutaway, semi-hollowbody guitars—distressed with a few strategic  “worn to the wood” spots, the rest of the body sports a matte black finish.

The AMV100DGBKL features a smaller, more compact body style, yet maintains the same neck scale as its companion model, the ASV100DGBKL. The ASV100DGBKL mirrors the AMV100DGBKL in appearance, playability and sound, except that it’s built around the larger dimensions of a more traditional hollowbody.

Features shared by both models include a sapele top, back and sides, with a 3-piece mahogany/maple set-in neck, a bound ebony fingerboard with acrylic/ abalone block inlays, and fast playing, perfectly honed medium frets—courtesy of the Artstar Fret Edge Treatment. For extended tone options, both models include two Super 58 pickups and a coil-tap switch for a lower output vintage tone. Both guitars come with a protective hard shell case.
