Vandoren Performing Artists at ClarinetFest 2014

hoff • Supplier Scene • June 6, 2014

The International Clarinet Association’s ClarinetFest 2014 at Louisiana State University is rapidly approaching, and Vandoren and DANSR, Inc. have announced a few of the many esteemed Vandoren performing artists who will be performing and participating in the event. This year’s theme: “The Clarinetist as Entrepreneur – How to diversify and expand your skills for greater success as a musician in the 21st century,” is one that these talented artists are certainly familiar with.

Caroline Hartig, Professor of Clarinet at The Ohio State University and President-Elect of the International Clarinet Association, will perform on the ICA Board Recital on the opening day of the convention. Many other master teachers will also be performing at this event, including Julianne Kirk Doyle of the Crane School of Music, Nathan Williams of the University of Texas at Austin, Jonathan Cohler of the Boston Conservatory, Harry Skoler of the Berklee College of Music, Jon Manasse, Greg Raden and others.

Additionally, there will be performances by other world-class performers, from international soloists to legends of the clarinet. Larry Combs, former Principal Clarinetist of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Stanley Drucker, former Principal Clarinetist of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, will both participate in a talk on Friday afternoon, and are both scheduled to perform during the festival. International master clarinetists Piero Vincenti, soloist and professor at the National Conservatory of Music at Cesena (Italy), and Phillippe Cuper, Principal Clarinetist of the Paris National Opera Orchestra and Professor of Clarinet of the Versailles National Conservatory, can both be seen in recital during the Festival.

Finally, Vandoren will be presenting two events during ClarinetFest: a clarinet VandoJam on Thursday night, hosted by jazz clarinetists Harry Skoler and Felix Peikli, and the Vandoren Chamber Music Night on Friday night, with performances by Piero Vincenti, Pascual Martinez-Forteza and others.
