Yamaha Promotes Doug Steinmetz to National Sales Manager for the Band & Orchestral Division

Christian Wissmuller • Supplier Scene • July 30, 2018

Yamaha Corporation of America (YCA) has announced that Doug Steinmetz has been promoted to national sales manager for the company’s Band & Orchestral (B&O) division. The announcement was made by Garth Gilman, YCA corporate vice president, in response to the upcoming departure of Jonathon Breen, who previously held the position and is leaving Yamaha in early August.

For the past seven years, Steinmetz has served as the B&O district manager for the Southwestern territory, growing sales and taking on many significant roles in the division, including being a member of both the company’s Education, and Pro and Custom Experience committees. Upon completion of his internship for the B&O Percussion department in 2005, Steinmetz was hired as an Accessories Marketing Assistant in 2006 and received the “Marketing Award” in 2007. He was promoted to Percussion Product Specialist in 2008, and to District Manager in 2011. In 2014, Steinmetz was named District Manager of the Year and was inducted into the company’s President’s Club. In 2013 and 2016, Steinmetz won the “Winds Award” and “Percussion Award” respectively. Prior to joining Yamaha, Steinmetz was a member of the Cavaliers Drum & Bugle Corps. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Performance and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from the University of Kentucky.

“Jonathon has been a highly-regarded sales manager in our company and in the music products industry, and we wish him well as he enjoys this next chapter in his life,” said Gilman. “We also are very excited to have Doug as our new National Sales Manager for the B&O division. Doug has demonstrated strong, consistent leadership at Yamaha, and his promotion is well-earned as he steps into this important role.”
