“Ernie Ball: The Pursuit of Tone ‘Buddy Guy’”

Christian Wissmuller • Upfront • March 25, 2016

Tune in to AT&T AUDIENCE Network for: “Ernie Ball: The Pursuit of Tone ‘Buddy Guy’” on Friday, March 25 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT (DIRECTV Ch 239/U-verse Ch 1114).

Watch as revered blues legend Buddy Guy sits down for this new documentary series, talking frankly about a wide range of topics – from how he got his start on a 3-string guitar to his close friend Muddy Waters’ last words of advice.

“I wasn’t looking for anything special.  All I thought was let me play like BB King and act like Guitar Slim,” says Buddy his own signature tone.  He recalls of his times with Muddy Waters: “We used to joke over drinks – ‘If I go before you don’t let the blues die.’”

Watch the trailer for AT&T AUDIENCE Network’s “Ernie Ball: The Pursuit of Tone ‘Buddy Guy’” (here).

The interview was filmed live in Chicago – the home of the blues – where the six-time GRAMMY Award-winning artist reveals the stories behind the songs, from his early days to his latest masterpiece, 2015’s Born To Play Guitar (Silvertone/RCA). Watch as Guy points out where key music venues including Theresa’s and the 708 Club used to exist and the tales behind those shows.
