Hal Leonard Releases ‘Two-Part Inventions by J.S. Bach’ for Cello Duet

Christian Wissmuller • Print & Digital • February 9, 2021

Hailing from Italy, Mr. Massimiliano Martinelli and Mrs. Fulvia Mancini (Mr. & Mrs. Cello) are professional Italian cellists, bringing forward their love and veneration for the cello and classical performance into the modern music industry. Hal Leonard is proud to release their second folio, Two-Part Inventions by J.S. Bach, that matches their Halidon Music album.

“We decided to arrange Bach for two reasons,” Fulvia explained. “First, Bach brings joy to so many people and we never get tired of his music. Second, we discovered that the Inventions could be played on cello exactly as Bach wrote for piano – and that the Inventions are good for bowing technique and tonalities. Lots of beginners can’t play the difficult Cello Suites, so the Inventions are a good place to start so students can learn these short pieces rather quickly for a sense of accomplishment.”

Students and professionals alike can play these original arrangements presented in full score, and as separate Cello 1 and Cello 2 pull-out parts. The book also includes access to audio recordings performed by Mr & Mrs Cello for download or streaming.

Two-Part Inventions by J.S. Bach with online audio retails for $19.99 and is available at halleonard.com and from music and book stores everywhere.
