Guitar Club offers Christmas solution

Ronnie Dungan • MMR Global • November 24, 2015

Anyone stuck for what to get the guitar nut in their life this Christmas can now get them a vintage instrument worth thousands of pounds for as little as £10 a week, through Guitar Club’s seasonal initiative.

Guitar Club, is a unique new concept that loans members high-end vintage instruments – normally the reserve of rich collectors  – for a fraction of their cost.

You simply pay a weekly membership fee (the cheapest being £10 and the most expensive £40, which includes delivery and insurance) and you can choose a guitar to take home, for a maximum of 12 weeks, straight away. The treasure trove of classic axes includes guitars from Gibson, Fender, Gretsch, Rickenbacker as well as niche instruments from smaller manufacturers. New guitars are added all the time. You might even end up with something played by one of your guitar heroes.

Christmas membership vouchers are now available, making it the ideal gift for the guitar obsessive that you know has been dreaming about one day having their own room full of vintage and rare collectables.

The club is the brainchild of guitar collector and entrepreneur, Sean Williams, who has been inspired by ‘sharing economy’ successes such as budget accommodation scheme AirBnB and car sharer Greentomato.

“The UK’s sharing economy is leading the way,” said Williams, “and we have become entirely comfortable with the concept of sharing time, space and high value items with each other. And as a guitar collector myself, I hate to see these amazing instruments locked away in a vault or hanging on an office wall with no-one playing them. Much better that they can be put in the hands of other guitar enthusiasts, who I know will treat them with as much love and care as I do.”

Although initially based in London, there are plans to increase the reach of Guitar Club to other regions of the UK, by creating a network of like-minded collectors and enthusiasts.
