Italian show hits heights, promises growth

Ronnie Dungan • MMR Global • October 13, 2015

Italian piano and classical instrument show Cremona Mondomusica and Piano Experience attracted more than 15,000 visitors to its latest expo and promises a broader show next year.

Some 247 exhibitors at the show, held at the Cremona Exhbition Centre from 30th September- 2nd October, attracted a total of 15,208 visitors. There were also 95 different concerts, workshops and masterclasses at the event.

Among the major events hosted this year was a guitar making masterclass held by John Monteleone who is considered the modern Stadivarius of guitars, and counts among his customers Eric Clapton and Mark Knopfler.

“Mondomusica and the Piano Experience have reached not only a quantitative level but especially a qualitative one unique in the world,”said Antonio Piva, CremonaFiere’s President. “With this Exhibition we can bring together, with a great positive impact for our city and for the ‘Cremonese Trademark’, the best of the violin making world, the most qualified international buyers, and an impressive number of music professionals and amateurs. This year we have reached new targets, amongst which the main one is certainly the expansion and the renewal of both exhibitors and international visitors, and we are already working for next year.

“The big news will be an even larger exhibition area dedicated to guitars: we have reached an agreement with Alessio Ambrosi, the founder and artistic director of the Acoustic Guitar Meeting, one of the major international events dedicated to guitars, which from next year will be held at CremonaFiere simultaneously with Mondomusica and the Piano Experience.”
