Hal Leonard Names Nix New Shawnee Church Choral Consulting Editor

Christian Wissmuller • People • June 29, 2014

Hal Leonard Corporation and Shawnee Press have announced that Brad Nix will become the consulting editor for Shawnee church choral publications. He will facilitate the editorial process for new sacred releases and assist in the production and promotion of the Shawnee catalog of brands.

Dr. Nix brings a rich array of talents and experiences to this newly created position. His music is widely published in both academic and sacred catalogs, and his compositions are regularly featured at conferences and in concerts and festivals. He has been awarded numerous Editors’ Choice recognitions, and his critical and commercial success testifies to the excellence of his work.

For the past eight years, Dr. Nix has taught piano, theory and composition at the collegiate level. He chairs the department of music at Sterling College in Kansas. With degrees in piano performance from Georgia State University and the University of Colorado at Boulder, he brings an impressive pedigree of accomplishments to this assignment.

A gifted pianist, he has concertized throughout the United States. His debut CD Sketches in Ivory has been very successful, as has the matching print music folio.

“I am extremely pleased to welcome Brad to our publishing family. His gifts are a perfect combination of ministry, artistry and industry. I look forward to working with him to continue the Shawnee Press legacy of excellence,” states Joseph Martin, director of church music publications for Shawnee.

Hal Leonard vice president of Choral Publications Emily Crocker adds, “We are delighted to have Brad become part of the Shawnee Press team. We look forward to the continued growth and success of the catalog.”
