ZVEX Runs “Auction for Andy” at Reverb.com

hoff • Supplier Scene • September 12, 2014

The MI industry mourned this loss of ZVEX Effects' Andrew Richardson last week. In an effort to pay tribute to Richardson, his colleagues have set up an auction through Reverb.com to help fund a memorial fund.  Earthquaker Devices' Julia Robbins distributed the following message:

Last week the pedal community lost a great man, Andrew Richardson, Sales Manager/Operations at ZVEX Effects. Andy is survived by his wife, Marisa (Moe) Richardson and three year old son, Bronson. If you did not have the honor to know Andy, here are links to a few articles:

We are currently organizing the "Auction for Andy" via Reverb.com to raise money for Moe and Bronson, to pay tribute to a wonderful man who is gone far too soon and to show our support for the ZVEX team. The proceeds from the auction will be donated to his memorial fund: http://www.youcaring.com/memorial-fundraiser/memorial-for-andrew-richardson/228832 .

We are currently soliciting donations of items to auction. If you can possibly find a way to donate a pedal or pedal(s), amp, guitar, accessory, etc. to the cause, it would be deeply appreciated. It would be great to have something special that could command higher bids, such as a one off or custom artwork, or even something signed by a notable artist – but any and all donations would be appreciated. We can even accommodate non-gear related donations. Ideas for that would be: a skype guitar lesson from a famous player, autographed records/posters/etc. from cool bands who want to donate but don’t have gear to spare.

The folks at Reverb.com will be handling the nuts and bolts of the listings, but we would ask that the manufacturer/donor handle the shipping of the items once the auctions have ended. That means your item does not need to be available until October 13th. If you want to make a donation to the auction but can’t handle the shipping at that time, let me know so we can make other arrangements.

Key info:
The auction will run on Reverb.com from October 6-12.

Deadline for submissions is September 19th. This is important because it will allow for two weeks to publicize the auction.

To submit an item, please respond to this email (julie@earthquakerdevices.com) with a 800×800 square photo of the product and the following info:

Please do send your heartfelt condolences to:

c/o Zachary Vex Effects
PO Box 16078
Minneapolis, MN 55416
All mail will be forwarded immediately. If you knew Andy, his wife is collecting photos and stories to create memory books for their son.

If you know of any other companies or artists who may be interested in donating an item, please forward this to them. While my contacts are focused on pedals, any type of gear would be appreciated.

We are working on partnering with the media to raise awareness of the auction. New Bay Media and Premier Guitar have committed, but if you have suggestions for other media outlets, please let me know so I can work with them to get the word out.

I would also like to use the opportunity to help raise awareness for mental health resources and suicide prevention. This is an issue we hold close to our hearts and hope to make a positive impact on people who are struggling with these issues. If you have suggestions for resources available, please let me know.

Sincerely,

Julie Robbins
