Trade Regrets: Ed Boyer

Christian Wissmuller • Trade Regrets • April 9, 2020

On April 9, we received the following from NASMD:

Today is a sad day for our school music community as we share news that Yamaha’s Ed Boyer passed away unexpectedly on April 8th after an accident at his home. His friends and colleagues at Yamaha remember Ed with love and admiration:
Undoubtedly this news will shake many of us to our core. Please reach out to one another during this difficult time. Ed would want you to look back on his life and celebrate the good times and memories. No doubt he was one of the people you just wanted to be around, especially with that infectious laugh. Ed thoroughly enjoyed being in the music industry, and especially loved working for Yamaha. Just two weeks ago, Ed marked his 37th anniversary with the company. He won numerous awards for sales and marketing of Wind, String and Percussion instruments. For the past 20 years he served as a Regional Sales Manager and was inducted into the Presidents Club in 2016 and 2019. Ed was always a consummate professional who drove those of us who worked with him to be better. Ed also loved to play drums and had a special place in his heart for Tower of Power and Steve Gadd. We can’t forget how much he also loved the Philadelphia Eagles and a cold Heineken.
Ed’s many friends in NASMD are also grieving. He is survived by his wife Kathleen, son Christopher and daughter Katie. A small private service for Ed is planned. If you would like to send your personal condolences to the family, please email them to Doug Steinmetz as the point of contact.
