Learning Music Makes You Smarter… Usually

Christian Wissmuller • Upfront • December 30, 2013

In mid-December, Oklahoma resident Zackary Aders is believed to have set off on a 26-mile walk through the snow and frost “to see a woman,” but got lost on the way and fell through the ice into a pond.

After hoisting himself out of the pond, Aders stripped naked and found the nearest shelter: his guitar case. Local ranchers were out checking on their herd and stumbled upon the man wrapped in the case. His rescuers called local authorities and they hauled him out of the pasture and into the back of a warm ambulance.

It's unclear what time Aders fell into the water, but conditions were difficult at best. Anders was battling near-freezing air temperatures and a wind chill well into the 20s around the time of his rescue. Earlier in the day the air temperature was around 10 degrees, with wind chill near zero.

Police say Aders spent 24 hours wandering disoriented in the freezing cold woods before being found.

Officials added that Aders was probably under the influence of something when he set out on his potentially life threatening journey.
