Sound Technology has taken on exclusive UK and Ireland distribution of ROLI’s quirky new-age piano synth, Seaboard Grand.
The Seabord Grand has redesigned the traditional piano keyboard as a soft, continuous surface, putting expression in the form of polyphonic pitch control and vibrato.
Adjusting pitch is achieved by sliding a finger to the left to lower the pitch of a note; sliding it to the right to raise it. Continuous touch enables you to sound a note and then modulate volume and timbre through one continuous motion. Low-friction ribbons run along both the top and the bottom of the Seaboard Grand’s playing surface.
It comes with Equator, a software synthesizer with a library of presets, from accurate simulations of acoustic instruments, to synthesized layered effects. Equator runs as a standalone app or as a plug-in, and every Seaboard Grand ships ready to run Equator on-board, enabling presets to be saved directly to the Seaboard and performed without a computer.
