JHS has taken on distribution of Warwick Music’s pBone plastic trombone range.

Retailing at under £200 (£195 RRP) the trombones are made from ABS plastic and available in a variety of colours, with the smaller, lighter, pBone Mini in Eb aimed at the younger end of the market and retailing at £155.

Alan Smith, JHS executive director of sales and marketing, said:  “At the heart of what we do is a passion to widen access to playing and making music. An ethos that pBone and JHS share. It’s an excellent addition and perfect complement to our own Odyssey brass family and we’re excited about building on the established success. Real musical instruments which are fun, lightweight, high quality, robust and cost effective, in the hands of budding new musicians is part of why we’re so pleased to become the distributor.”

Also added to the pBone range is the pTrumpet (£195) –  the world’s first all plastic trumpet. Half the weight of its brass counterparts, the pTrumpet has a fully plastic valve system with a patented lead pipe technology designed to ensure a vibrant and focussed sound, and comes with adjustable main, first and third tuning slides as well as a 3c and 5c mouthpiece. You can also use any standard metal mouthpiece with it.

Steven Greenall, chief Executive of Warwick Music Group, said: “It may seem a simple task to create in plastic an instrument that is traditionally made from brass but, as engineers will recognise, it is not easy! Our team of musicians, designers and music educationalists are some of the best and we have been delighted are award-winning products are proving so popular and look forward to broadening our appeal through our partnership with JHS.”

Meanwhile, the distributor has launched its new 240-page trade catalogue, featuring more than 5700 product lines.

New to the catalogue are the aforementioned pBone, pTrumpet and pBuzz instruments range, The Marquee and Cavern Club licensed instruments, Attitude carry bags and cases, and new offerings from JHS stalwarts such as Vintage electric and acoustic guitars, Supro Amplification, Xvive effects pedals and Laka ukuleles.

“We know from talking to our dealers and from the feedback from our ASM’s that last years new look catalogue format was a massive hit,” said JHS Managing Director Dennis Drumm, “With our new catalogue together with the addition of some great new brands, expanded best-selling ranges and increased margins, we hope to bring even more benefits and profitability to our dealer network.”
