Korg has sprung a number of new product launches, including an update to its popular MicroKorg S synth and a new ARP Odyssey module.
First introduced in 1972, the ARP Odyssey was resurrected in 2015. With the assistance of David Friend, co-founder of the ARP Instruments company, Korg produced a complete reproduction of the ARP Odyssey’s original circuitry.
The new ARP Odyssey Module is a compact, keyboard-less version with the same analog synthesis circuitry that completely reproduces the original, but designed to be compatible with DAW music production environments. An update to Korg’s best-selling synthesizer, the new MicroKorg S features a built-in 2+1 speaker system and increased memory.
The capacity has been increased from the original MicroKorg S and there are 64 preset programs that meet the needs of the changing music scene, including clearly defined and punchy leads, electric pianos that sound good in an ensemble, and powerful and solid basses. In addition, there are 64 additional slots for user programs to add original sounds without overwriting the presets.
The Volca Kick is an analog kick generator that lets you create a wide range of kick sounds only possible through analog circuitry. The 16-step sequencer, a distinctive feature of the Volca, now has a new Touch FX feature that lets you control an effect instantly, for improved live performance. For more specs go here.
Also launched were new ultra-small in-ear metronomes that fit directly in your ear, making them ideal for personal practice. The range not only includes models for music, but also for specialist applications like golf and ballroom dancing.
And lastly, The TM-50 tuner/metronome is now available in a refined silver finish alongside the existing black and pearl white models.
