Drummers attending this weekend’s London Drum Show (www.londondrumshow.com) at Olympia (21st-22nd November) will be first to get hands-on with a new type of drum interface, which uses cutting-edge 3D virtual technology, allowing you to make and control music any way you want.
Pulse* from Titan Reality allows you to access thousands of sounds and instruments and control them in a way that suits your playing skills.
The instrument’s 3D sensor is so sensitive it will recognise whatever you’re using to play it – sticks, beaters, hands – even brushes – and respond accordingly. You don’t even need to touch it – Pulse can recognise movement in the air above it.
It includes dynamic features such as dampening of drums, sliding across the pad with brushes and you can also choose from an array of virtual drumsticks. Even the area of the surface you hit will change the sound, just like an acoustic drum.
With many drummers now opting for a hybrid set-up incorporating both the natural snap and boom of an acoustic kit with the enhancement of an electronic set up, Pulse* provides a portable, easily controllable option, which allows players to create music in the way they find most comfortable, whilst greatly expanding their sound.
In addition, standard MIDI compatibility means Pulse* integrates with existing music software packages such as Pro Tools, Ableton Live, Logic Pro X, Garage Band and others.
Pulse* also offers instant access (so you can try before you buy) to a constantly updated Cloud- based library of thousands of different samples and sounds through its free Explore* app (for OSX, IOS, Android, and Windows).
Users will be able to download an endless choice of unique instruments, added to every month, thanks to a new physical modelling sampling system developed by Titan Reality. It allows it to quickly and accurately digitise any musical instrument, electronic sound, virtual microphone, audio gear, even the acoustics of a particular venue, into small, low-latency, MIDI-compatible files, pro- ducing a sound more realistic than normal digital samples.
Demonstrations of Pulse*, followed by Q&A sessions with the creators will be held on the show floor at Titan Reality’s stand 140. To see a video of Pulse* in action click here.
