Italian audio-specialist FBT has been on the receiving end of some glowing reports on the live circuit over in the US, as it looks to extend its international business outside of Europe.
The Old School Block party organised by HOT 105.7 FM was held on the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds, attracting 3,000 people who saw Coolio, Lisa Lisa, MC Magic, Timex Social Club, Spanish Fly and the Cover Girls perform. with FBT product providing the sound with eight Muse 210LAs, four on each side of the stage and four Subline 218SA speakers.
Noel Saucedo of the DJ Booth Music Company, which rigged the sound at the event, was using FBT for the first time and said: “We heard about FBT speakers years ago when a friend of our showed us some old Promaxx speakers. They were about 10 years old but were just monsters. They’re just so powerful. The Italians make everything better.”
The FBT array was provided by distributor Italian Speaker Imports. The DJ Booth Company provides rentals for all sorts of functions up to large music festivals.
“The clarity and crispness were amazing. They pick up all the nuances, not just of the vocals but of the instruments too. And the sub-bass! We couldn’t believe there were only two on each side of the stage. It sounded like eight.
Saucedo says he won’t be happy using any other set-up from now on. “It’s kind of like driving a Lamborghini for a while and then going back to driving your every day car. it’s just not even close to the same thing.”
