German instrument maker Geomega Music is offering custom made string instruments with a unique design feature – the missus.
Boss Manfred Gernert offers a service that incorporates pictures of wives and girlfriends into the design of his classical instruments. “My customers can send me pictures of their women or girlfriends, we then give the instruments unique designs according to the pictures”, he explained.

He can do males, but no-one has asked him for that yet. Each custom instrument costs around €3,500.
The instrument frames are made of synthetic materia and are finished by airbrush artist Meinrad Froschin.
Quite how the refund policy works when other half is expecting to feature on a cello but ends up on a double bass is not clear.
