Barnes and Mullins has launched a new point of sale promotion in association with leading harmonica brand, Lee Oskar with the aim of encouraging more guitarists to play harmonica.
The campaign is freely available to all retailers via their area sales manager. The POS pack includes an A3 hardboard poster and eye-catching counter display supplied with 40 QuickGuide How to play harmonica leaflets. It offers retailers the opportunity to prominently display their Lee Oskar diatonic harmonicas in their guitar departments to provide browsing guitarists with an impulse purchase opportunity.
“A few years ago we worked hard to get harmonicas out of shop counter draws and onto the wall,” explains Alex Mew, Barnes & Mullins associate director of marketing, “and this is an extension of that core idea. Now the goal is to move harmonicas from merely being in the eye line to being within physical reach. Once within reach, we can more easily get across the message that a band can incorporate a whole new instrument without having to hire a new physical member. Harmonicas have featured on so many iconic recordings, yet are so often overlooked by a majority of artists.”
Based around the inspirational message of “Your new band member is you”, the Lee Oskar display boards and ‘How to Play’ QuickGuide leaflets provides a fantastic overview of the different types of harmonica available, their musical styles and common playing techniques to help new players get started. The Quickguide leaflet is easy to follow and engaging, plus the dispenser is easily displayed on the wall or stood on the counter.
