A new documentary about the story of Marshall Amps and its founder Jim Marshall, has attracted a host of well-known players including Billy Gibbons, Slash (naturally), and Lemmy, among many others.
Co-directed by Lennart Reijdners and Peter Visscher of First Sight Media, Father of Loud is described (without irony) as a full length ‘rockumentary’ and is scheduled for release in autumn 2016.
“The Marshall Amp is one of the most recognised amplifiers in the world. Known for the deep, ‘crunch’ sound. Together with great international guitar players, we try to figure out how Marshall changed their sound and their perspective on rock ‘n’ roll,” said the film makers.
The film will also tell Jim Marshall’s story, from opening his drum shop in 1960 to eventually creating the Marshall sound that remains a favourite of guitar players today.
A first trailer for the film, which shares its title with a 2003 biography of its founder, has just been unveiled. You can watch here.
