MI marketing and PR veteran Dave Phillips has launched a new photo-biographic book on drumming – From the Riser: A Drummer’s Perspective II.
The book is a photographic celebration of drummers and percussionists and features two hundred and seventy previously unseen photographs taken exclusively by the author.
It includes over one hundred and thirty legendary drummers from a wide range of genres including Neil Peart, Taylor Hawkins, Sheila E, Tommy Lee, Travis Barker, Jonathan Moffett, Lars Ulrich, Stewart Copeland, Joey Kramer, Dave Weckl, Ash Soan, Billy Cobham, Jack DeJohnette, Dame Evelyn Glennie, Ian Paice, Steve Ferrone, Lenny White, Zigaboo Modeliste and many more. Included alongside the many striking images is a record of Phillips’ cherished collection of backstage passes, set lists and other memorabilia.
The book contains detailed pictures of drummers in action, taken in venues ranging from London’s Olympic Stadium to intimate jazz clubs, and from as many interesting angles as possible. Additional photos of the drum kits are included as well as candid, off-the wall photos such as warming up backstage and even jumping off the drum kit.
Rush’s Neil Peart, who penned the foreword for the book said: “Not many photographers have captured that performance art as well as David. One accomplishment is simply collecting photographs, but the greater gift is delivering such iconic images.”
From The Riser: A Drummer’s Perspective II retails for £29.99 ($39.99,€35.50) and is only available to purchase from the Author’s Website http://www.music-images.co.uk
