Peavey’s recent launch activity saw it bring back its Cirrus 4 bass guitar and launch a new micro amp head.
The 6505 Piranha micro head is the newest addition to the 6505 Series and follows in the footsteps of the popular 6505 MH mini head by offering high-gain tones in an even smaller, 20-watt power amp head. Features include a bright switch along with a unique “scoop” control to achieve a wide array of tones with few controls. Additional features include the 20-watt (RMS) Solid State power amp, one 16ohm speaker output, Aux input, 12AX7 preamp tube, and tooled metal cabinet.
The Cirrus 4 was first released in 1997 as Peavey’s flagship bass guitar. The new model includes all of the original features, such as a 35” scale maple neck-thru bass with mahogany stringers plus a Rosewood or Pau Ferro fingerboard with 24 frets and a two way, fully adjustable torsion rod.
It also includes string-thru ferrules, 19:1 ratio Gotoh tuning machines, and a milled brass bridge giving players a choice of top loading the strings or stringing through the body. The electronics include volume, pickup blend, bass, mid and treble controls with 10 dB boost/cut. Pickups are two Peavey USA designed, VFL active humbuckers, with an active preamp, and 18 volt electronics. It comes with satin gold hardware and DR Dragonskin strings.
In addition, the firm launched the new 6505 subwoofer, with 300 watts of total power, DDT compression, crossover frequency of 120 Hz, a bass contour circuit, 4th order Linkwitz-Riley crossover, 18″ heavy-duty woofer, woofer servo for reduced woofer distortion, female XLR mic- or line-level balanced input, male XLR thru, switchable either high-pass or thru, and one 1/4″ phone jack for speaker-in capability.
