POLL RESULTS: How much do you sell online?

In our latest poll we asked retailers how much of their revenue was made up from online sales, and the results are now in.

We offered a range of percentage-based parameters in the poll but it seems that online sales are by no means dominating dealers turnover with 80 per cent of those that replied saying that online sales still only account for between 1-10 per cent of their sales. The other 20 per cent say that online already contributes between 41-50 per cent of their total.

What it perhaps shows is that there is still a wide disparity within the dealer network when it comes to grasping the nettle of ecommerce. Some retailers get it and are prepared to make the investment required to make it work, while others are not quite there yet. One thing the industry has moved forward on in recent years is its acceptance that the internet is not going to go away and is as much an opportunity for their own businesses as it is a threat from large discount lead operations.
